Pathways is the name given to all activities undertaken by the 18+ group of ChildVision, we use this name to appropriately represent their age group.
At Pathways, the participants are tackling the lack of practical training and employment opportunities that are currently available for people with visual impairment and additional disabilities. All profits generated go back into the enterprises to enable their future development.
A core element of the enterprises is that they connect together, for example, the weaving enterprise makes felted covers and washcloths for the soap, the horticulture enterprise makes seed paper from the pulped shredded paper and the letterpress making cards and tags to compliment the soap gift sets.
Currently we have five social enterprises on campus that the Pathways students can participate in:
We provide essential support to the Garden Centre in ChildVision potting on plugs and plants, sowing seeds and planting bulbs. We grow herbs and vegetables for retail in a local wholefoods shop Small Changes. Our latest project is developing bird feeders, bee bombs and seed paper.
We make natural, cold process soap, hand and foot cream, lip balm and scrubs using only high quality, 100% natural ingredients. We also do a range of seasonal products. Please click here to purchase our soap and skincare products to support our work.
We take fabric and materials destined for landfill and make them into something useful. Our product range includes seat cushions, dog beds, table runners and place mats.
We use an industrial shredder and baler on campus to shred confidential documents. We can provide you with a locked bin in the size of your choice and notify you with a certificate of destruction when your job is complete. Contact us today for a competitive rate.
We have recently been funded by The Learning Tree Creche to purchase an Adana Letterpress to print bespoke cards, tags and packaging.
We are constantly developing new ideas for activities and products so keep an eye out on our social media channels for updates. We also love to collaborate – so if you are a maker or producer please give us a shout – cando@childvision.ie  and follow us here on Instagram
