Introduction to Functional Vision
This two hour workshop will include an explanation of the key concepts and ideas and an opportunity to test out the ideas presented in practice exercises. Dr Olga Overbury will cover the following components
- distinguishing between visual function and functional vision
- evaluating functional vision by interview
- evaluating functional vision by observation
- evaluating functional vision by testing
- reporting on functional vision
Olga Overbury, Ph.D.
Professor & Graduate Program Chair, School of Optometry, University of Montreal
Dr. Olga Overbury received her doctorate in Experimental Psychology from Concordia University and completed a doctoral internship in the Ophthalmology Department at McGill University. After her graduate studies, she held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center of the Veterans Affairs Department in Palo Alto, California. She is currently a full professor at the School of Optometry, University of Montreal, where she is also Chair of the Graduate Programs, including the program in Vision Impairment and Rehabilitation. Outside academia, Dr. Overbury is president of the International Society for Low Vision Research & Rehabilitation.
