ChildVision provides educational opportunities for Ireland’s blind and partially sighted children and young adults, giving them the best chance to reach their full potential.
What that means is that we are a primary school and a secondary school, a residential centre, a therapy centre and a pre-school. And we have a stable, a petting zoo, a coffee shop, a garden centre, playing fields and a FETAC accredited training centre. All of this sits on our 21 acre campus on Gracepark Road in Dublin.
We’re also the nationwide resource centre for parents of blind, partially sighted and multi-disabled visually impaired students, mainstream schools and professionals wishing to upskill on Visual Impairment qualifications. Our outreach resource team provides support to hundreds of students and families in communities throughout Ireland and we offer additional outreach facilities on campus.
Children with vision impairment, some with additional multiple disabilities, can attend ChildVision from as young as newborns, in the pre-school; to the age of 22 at our vocational training. The students can attend as residential or day students on our campus in Drumcondra, in the heart of Dublin. Our highly trained and committed staff provide varied education programmes that contribute to the child’s learning and social development.
ChildVision provides a safe, nurturing environment where all students are treated as individuals. Each one is brought on his/her own personalised voyage of learning and growth that helps him/her become more independent, more resourceful and happy.
Specifically, ChildVision aims to:
At ChildVision we see the capabilities of each child develop from using a cane as a toddler to accessing employment as a graduate. Throughout all of these life progressions the staff of ChildVision on campus, and in residential care, ensure that the children’s time with us is enjoyable. Safeguarding children has a high priority and all staff are trained in child protection and procedures.
